Kidney Pain — Which Doctor Should I See?

Kidney pain typically presents as a sharp, aching sensation in the side or lower back, usually on one side. It may be constant or come and go, and can range from mild to severe.

Common causes include kidney stones, urinary tract infections, kidney infection (pyelonephritis), or polycystic kidney disease. Injuries or muscle strain in the back area can also cause similar pain.

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe pain, fever, blood in urine, difficulty urinating, or nausea. Persistent pain lasting more than a few days also warrants professional evaluation.
